The Katsana™ Team is happy to announce that Katsana™ version 2.1.0 has been successfully deployed onto our live tracking platform, yesterday 26th November 2014 at 1:00am.
The features in Katsana v2.1.0 are targeted towards solving vehicle utilization issues often faced by fleet companies, or companies that have substantial amount of vehicles.
New major features in Katsana Advanced GPS tracking
Area restriction policy, or Geofence
With Area Restriction policy, you will be able to ensure your vehicles to be within a certain area. Any attempt to exit the area will trigger a violation log in our Live Tracking System.
Plus, instead of limiting a vehicle from exiting an area, you could also prevent a vehicle from entering certain areas. This feature is immensely useful for companies to make sure that their vehicles are not used for personal reasons, and ensure that they are driven within designated area only.

Movement policy, or Working Hour
With movement policy, you will be able to define the period to allow the vehicle to move. For example, it is within your company’s policy that certain vehicles can only be used during working hour, which is normally between Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. Any movement outside of this defined time range will trigger a violation on Katsana and it will be logged in our live tracking system.
Moreover, instead of having to define the working hour, you could also define the other way around ie configuring the ‘stopping’ or ‘parking’ hour. By doing this, you will only need to define the time and day that the vehicle is supposed to stop. Awesome isnt it?
Note: Tutorial will be made available next week.
Minor enhancements in Live Tracking and Fleet Management platform
New Start & Stop icon to improve legibility of data
We have removed the rather bland icons used in Katsana v2.0 and replaced it with more description icons. You can now distinguish Start and Stop locations for your vehicles in a glance.
Secure as always. Improved protection against CSRF attacks
A routine audit of our platfrom discovered a potential threat against CSRF (cross-site request forgery) attacks. We have done a complete run-through of our platform for any possible intrusion points and contribute our security patch and suggestions for others to benefit from at the Laravel platform, the PHP framework for web artisans.
